1604 VLZ PRO used for computer recordings
« on: August 08, 2005, 07:24:32 PM »

Hello
I'm in a band and we currently use a 1604 VLZPro mixer for our live performances.  I was just wondering if I can use that mixer for home recordings using some kind of software like Pro Tools etc.  Is there something I can get that will allow me to use the mixer for tracking in whatever program I would get.  If anyone can give me any help at all with this that would be great. Thanks!

normally you wouldn't get answers for your "too" general question I think;) I'm so kind:)

VLZ pro has great preamps for the price, practically no noise and a lot of direct outs! so what else do you want?! I do a demo right now for a band, and the shit sounds very good!

Don't go ProTools if you can't afford a ProTools HD-stack.

With lowbudget go somewhere cubase SE and with a Firefacecard.

Maybe an Mackie onyx would do the job? primary the same as the VLZ but with firewirecard (direct recording of the channels to your computer via firewire).

cheers

why not go protools??

the digi 002 is really nice..... and the software is second to none imo.....

yes i know..... 32 tracks..... but it can actually be a nice limit...... easier to keep it simple
