Patchbay wiring help
« on: June 16, 2004, 02:10:22 PM »

Now that I've got my mixer situation all sussed out, I was wondering if anyone would be will to help me with my patchbay situation. I'm pretty set on on using 1/4" trs patchbays, unless there's some really compelling reason to go TT. I've read quite a bit on it and understand the basics like normalled, half-normalled, but what I'm really curious about is the proper way wire one.
So:
1.) How should I wire so that using outboard mic pres are easy to use? I.E. I don't have to constantly go snaking about in the back of my rack.
2.) What is the proper way wiring up inserts? Do I use a y cable off the board, or do I go trs off the board and just use y cable going to my outboard gear?

I'm sure I'll think of some others later.

thanks in advance
