I've only had one problem with transfers and that was with J.
Not our fault however... I do wish I had sent a safety of the tracks...
I agree about the edits and such, I like to know where they are but we never had that option with tape punches so if the edits are done well it shouldn't be a problem. The fact is, most of the time, they are a problem.
Our CaPE project utilized, Radar, DP3.11, Nuendo, Samplitude, ProTools and 2". Everything went incredibly smooth but there was a fair amount of checking on my part... The mixer had a copy of DP and Protools so life was pretty easy. We even provided track sheets in addition to the file names. The only rub on my end was the filename conversion from the Nuendo and Radar systems to Mac. What the fuck is a: R26AU~l.wav? It's Roomaudienceleft.wav.
This is where track sheets are still important...
