U67 Valve
« on: June 08, 2004, 11:02:52 AM »

Hi all,

I am looking to buy a late 60's U67 that has been recently serviced by Sennheiser UK. It has an EF806 valve.

Is that the correct valve (I thought it was supposed to be an EF86)?

Please forgive me if the post seems a little foolish to those in the know, but it is a lot of money for me and I want to be sure it is the correct thing.

Thanks,

Mark

Hi Mark,

EF-806 is very ok for U67, the EF-806 or EF-806S are a low noise and long live version of EF-86.

Correct. Don't let the tube stand in the way of an otherwise positive purchase. Neumann never put that tube in as original equipment part (too expensive).

That should tell you something about the previous owner's level of care of the mic you are looking at.

Best of luck!

I have been looking around for others and I have come across one that has had the capsule "regolded". Anyone have any idea what that means?

Thanks again...
