extending an mtr-90 remote cable?
« on: December 26, 2007, 08:41:33 PM »

hi all-

are there any options for me to extend my mtr-90 remote cable (or source/build a new one)?  [i have both the CB-147/148] weren't some machines tied to stripped down controllers in console master sections?  is something like that an option? i could arm the tracks i need in the CR, but would like play/rec/ff/rew/stop and maybe a simple locate point avail in the live room for recording alone.  of course the remote doesn't reach all the way right now.

what did people in the old days do?

thx,
nick

Is like $200 an option?
Used Lynx or Zeta III with an MTR 90 cable.
Also good for lock to DAW.

By the time you bought multipair wire and connectors to extend the big remote, you'd have this.

i'm all ears and don't know much about either box - if it works, it'd be worth 200$ to me...  but aren't those both synchronizers?  do they also have transport functions?

Yes, they have full transport controls on their smallish remotes that are connected with somewhat common cables.
So, between a 10-20 foot transport cable to the synchronizer and a 20+ foot remote cable, you should have the distance.

As a bonus, if you ever want to lock the tape deck to a daw for multiple transfer passes, you can.

All you won't get is individual record-readies, individual channel input, sync, repro switching , and ext/int capstan switching.  No biggie.
