Clearwire: a complete disappointment

Using them was bad, but cancelling them has been a complete nightmare.  I want to warn everyone about the hassle awaiting you if you try to get rid of these vultures.

Nick,

I don't know what you're referring to.  Can you fill me in?

it is a great concept in theory.  wireless internet at high-speed.  but the shared use of crowded or otherwise technically faulty cell-phone tower piggy-back tech seems to keep it from achieving its advertised goal of 1.5 mbps.

I have seen my download speed start at the advertised rate, but then drop off fairly consistently after 30 seconds, to about half.  Kind of like they made a show of it, to meet advertising specs, but then throttle you down to keep bandwidth available to others.

Also, due to some technical issues on their part, many times a single page load will take 10 seconds or more, or not even be available, but on a cable connection it was instantly available.

After the connection through the cell sites is made, the speed is fine (for 30 seconds, usually enough for most downloads), but the initial send through their cell network is often sluggish as it makes whatever connections it needs.

tomorrow's story: the cancellation and late-pay wringer...
