a friend of mine introduced me to this recording and i was blown away by it. They don't seem to make them like this anymore. This guy was a genius and the work is incredible...so was the arranging and engineering.  It has been a long time since I was blown away by an album and it felt good.  It reminds me very much of Harry Nilsson, another genius, lost in time.

just wanted to share this with others.

I wish there were others making music like this today.  Maybe there are...I just don't know about them.

if you feel there are others of this caliber, please let me know about them.

Thanks,

John

Indeed, that's a great record... I hope you know the back story on it... it makes the achievement all the more impressive.

Similar artists... that's tough company.

But I'll throw one out... the High Llamas.

I saw the live show a week after the CD was released.  I was already a Wilson fan but not a big Smile-aholic.

It was absolutely astounding, I actually heard the CD shortly afterwards and realized just how perfect the concert was.  Just as excellent was the a capella set that opened the concert with a number of old favorites.

I firmly believe that the album deserved a LOT more Grammys, including the engineering award for Mark Linett.
