The MKII looks very similar to the BM6A. It seems that the biggest differences are the controls in the back. I'm curious if threre is more.

I can't remember a pro DynAudio monitor that had any other kind of mid/bass driver.

I used to own BM6A's, but now I realize the 2k region (near the crossover point) was too soft sounding and can make you EQ a little sharp.

Don't get me wrong, BM6A's are still good speakers, but they really should try a good paper cone woofer or quite possibly some sort of a rigid cone solution. It's like there's a difference in resolution between the tweeter and the woofer.

I agree. To my ears too, this is the achilles' heel of these otherwise very useful nearfields.

I don't think the poly cone is really a key factor in the 6A's sound. In my room the 6A's with a Benchmark DAC-1 & a DD12 sub is a great combo. I don't find that the 6A's are lacking in the 2kHz range, in fact I often find myself EQ'ing out some of that range on  harsh mixes & rarely adding it.

The Dynaudio drivers are used in the C4 & most of the Duntech/Dunlavy range of speakers & these are all highly reverred so they must be doing something right with their drivers poly or otherwise...

The just released BM12A is more powerful than the BM6a/BM6aMK2.

Well, to be fair Matt, the 6A's I currently work with are placed behind the meter bridge of a humongous 70's console, so that's probably not the best situation for a good evaluation.

Still like 'em though. Good for long mixing sessions.

I use a pair of Velodyne DD12s in my room and absolutely love them - they extend down to 17Hz and integrate very nicely with my mains (crossed over at 36Hz,mains run full range). Hard to find any fault with them, honestly...

i saw the mkII's at NAMM, one of the sales reps there actually told me that he thought the older BM6A'a sounded BETTER.
i have mixed on the BM6A's quite a bit and really like them.
i tried to listen to the mkII's at NAMM....but seriously, can you even hear yourself think at NAMM?

Love the BM6as for mixing, wouldn't use them alone for mastering, there is loss of detail in the low/mids around 500Hz that can pose serious problems. Mixes do translate on them very well. They compliment larger mid fields such as the ATCSCM50s, that have incredible midrange/low end detail.
