I have the feeling that I have more experience in my little finger than you do in your whole body about audio electronics..

A while back I found an old API oscillator in our bins that fit the 500 rack. Inside it were two original 2520's (Huntington, NY's) in almost unused, perfect condition. I took them out (certainly don't need a 500 rack oscillator!)
man, are you crazy? that's the punchiest, warmest tone you can find! other engineers will be envious of your 1KHz!

One of the best things [in my asshole opinion] to come from the 2520 was the development of the 990 op-amp... which is basically a 24 volt version of the 2520... the added headroom gives tremendous depth and detail.
