Hi,

I put 2 Earthworks QTC-1s with a Jeckelin disk at the top of the neck facing down. The mic preamps were either Pendulum Audio MDP-1s or Avalon 2022 depending on the tune. Recorded into ProTools HD at 96k through the stock 192 interface.

Oh yeah, and I'm in a small church, a significant part of the overall sound. He played on the stage. Check my website for pictures if ya wanna.

Mamadou and I played around with different layers of carped to set the kora on, listening to how the instrument coupled wit the floor. Once it felt right to him, he then recorded his album in one continuous 5 hour session. I sat in the control room with my jaw in my lap.

No eq, no reverb, no compression, no editing. I applied the Massey L2007 limiter in mastering and took down a couple fingernail transients maybe 3dB max.
