Title: tracking vocals under my ceiling cloud
Post by: lostinthewires on July 01, 2008, 08:48:09 am
Hi,

do  you  think  tracking  vocals  under  my  ceiling  cloud  might be  a  good  idea ?

Having  read  that  a  ceiling  with  fiberglass  treatment  all over  creates  an  impression  of  a  higher  ceiling  made  me  wonder  if  tracking  vocals  under  my  ceiling  cloud  would  make  an  improvement  in  the  quality  of  my  recordings.

Cloud  dimensions:  4' x 4'  3" Rockwool  3"  off  8'  ceiling.

Thanks.

Hi  Glenn,

room  dimensions  are  23' x 15' x 8'.

rockwool  bales  in  each  corner ;  window  on  each  of  3  walls , two  doors  on  4th  wall; fireplace,  couch,  t.v.,  stereo,  pictures,  piano  and  other  stuff.

oh  yeah - two  bookcases  with  books  and  records  at  end  of  room  behind  mix  position  for  diffusion.

You might want to experiment by impliment some gobos. A couple of 2'x4'x4" fiber panel gobos in a V mounted to a mic stand with the mic facing out into the farthest wall and under the cloud over a reflective floor surface.

Cool, thanks Brett.

I have a reflexion filter so I was thinking of using that but I can try your idea by using two absorbers of the dimensions you mentioned that I have on the wall behind my speakers in my r.f.z.

Never thought of reflective floor though. Thanks.
