Title: Any suggestion on a CD/DVD printer???

Our Microboards on CD printer is old and is no longer working at peak efficiency. Microboards tech support is the best there is but I am afraid that in in the next couple of months or maybe even weeks we are going to need a new on CD/DVD printer and was wondering what others are using. This printer needs to print at least 50 copies at a time and be cost effective when it comes to supplies and be ultra reliable.

Thanks in advance for any thoughts or ideas

The three we are looking at are the Primera, the Microboards and the Epson but any manufacture is valid.

I've been using the Primera Bravo 2's for a few years and haven't had a problem.  Runs off a pc and the ink cost can be minimal.

I have a Primera Z6 that works great and has been rock solid in terms of reliability for a number of years.  It costs more than other options but the fact that it has a dedicated drawer rather than a caddy such as the ones that come with the less expensive Epsons much better guarantees that the playing surface of the CD-R never gets scratched.

I would completely avoid XLNT Idea printers - I had one that I got because it was less cash than the Z6 but its drivers were very poor and it broke down as soon as the warranty was over.

Another option possibly looking into are thermal ribbon printers as these will give smudge proof and water resistant labels.  Unfortunately I don't have direct experience with these so can't give advice in this regard.

First of all, I hate printers. I'm a raving anti-printite.

But .. so far so good with a new Epson Artisan 810.  The CD print tray is not as confidence inspiring as my stable-platter CD player, but I haven't gotten a single scratch from it, and the print quality is gorgeous.  

For making small parts-orders look great, it's definitely worth a look.

Yes we just got the Epson Artisian 725 for backup since it was on sale (Staples $129.99) and I did not want to be without a CD printer in case ours finally gives up. We did some test prints and it looks GREAT! Thanks for the heads up.

Canon Pixma MP series does the job here.
