Feel like I should apologise in advance for this self indulgence, but I just got my first paying client as a mix engineer (I'm so far a live sound engineer).
It's not the most challenging thing in the world.... but it's a start

Just say: "I think I hear some phasing" every now and then (then go adjust a mic) and they will never question your authority.
