Title: Welcome...
Post by: bblackwood on April 20, 2004, 12:07:01 PM
Welcome to the new forum, glad you found us.

Those of you who are familiar with my old RecPit forum will know what this forum is all about - everything related to mastering. Please feel free to ask any question you wish and we will try to help you out, sometimes with simple answers, sometimes through discussions that allow you to determine which path is right for you. I don't want this forum to be a one-stop-shop for answers found easily on Google, but a place to discuss the more esoteric aspects of mastering while explaining the simple or even mundane aspects for the less experienced. All discussions are open, whether the focus is equipment, it's use, or personal improvement.

Historically, this forum has attracted some of the best and brightest, so please understand that someone who answers your questions might be a beginner or might be an experienced engineer that mastered records that changed your life. Regardless, all who post will be respected. No flames will be tolerated and civility is required (and will be enforced at my discretion). This does not mean you walk around on egg-shells - the Mastering Mafia and such are always fair game, but let's be nice to each other, ok?

Open up, let's have some fun, and let's learn from one another. Everyone here can learn more and everyone has something to offer, even if it's 'only' a questions that makes us think a little bit...

Hey - we just did some "mastering-like" work in Samp 7 last night. I'm really liking it. I think my Protools-using days are soon to be over...

Brad,

You know I'm not often posting about mastering...

Well you know, it's a real job, now that I think of it...

It's not because I can fool some record companies behind a desk that I can fully understand about what your craft is really all about ...

OTOH

I like you a lot, you are aware of that detail

So I wish you the greatest success with your forums

This looks great - will take a little getting used to, but I am sure I will very soon prefer it much over the old forum. And speed is definitely much better so far. Nice spell checker too Smile Glad you continued as moderator.

Congrats B-rad,

I used to read R/E/P magazine, back when the earth was still cooling.  A spel checker and "filter this author" function will be nice.......

R/E/P was a cool little rag. Glad to be here in it's new namesake. Greetings to all the recpit folks.

(DC, the single "l" in spell was a nice subtle touch)

"B-rad"  was an even nicer, not so subtle touch.
It doesn't seem like R/E/P was all that long ago, I must be getting old.

Brad,
Although I now own a studio, I have been hanging out on the LAB for years.  I always found the RECPIT too jumbled up to deal with it.  LAB was simpler to to look at and much more civilized.  RECPIT seemed to be the home of too many angry young men with funny names.
Now, with the new look of the entire web site I thouht I might take a look at the new RECPIT but I am still dismayed by the multiple forums approuch within the one area.  The "blurb" says its the place to come to to get answers, but the forums are layed out by names, not topics, with tiny little descriptions that say little about what the content of any one forum is.  I don't have the time to lurk around to learn who's who.  Can't you guys get your forums headed up in a more logical fashion?
Seems to me there is
TRACKING
MIXING
MASTERING
MIDI, KEYBOARDS, DRUM MACHINES
TECH ISSUES
EQUIPMENT REVIEWS
That would make for 6 great forums
Just my .02

There are many forums on the web, what differentiates R/E/P are the moderators we have. Many mods here are borderline legendary at what they do (myself excluded), so we let them decide what they want to talk about...

That's why the forums are the way they are.

Brad,

I thought the Recpit was great, but I am sure that this is going to be better.

Thanks for your continued support.

Legendary is like genius it's your peers that make it so not ones self.
According to your peers Brad, You are fast becoming one.

Nice forum.
