Title: Mic Shock Mounts

I suspect that many of the low cost shock mounts are not as effective as their high priced competitors.  

I'm looking for advice and reference material that relates to shock mounts... Damping? Resonance?  And for those shock mounts with lots of surface area: diffraction?
