Title: AKG C412 Repair/Mods?
Post by: garry on December 08, 2013, 01:53:44 PM
I have a pair of AKG C412s with the original CK12 brass capsules in them. Korby Audio cleaned them up a few years ago, but one of them has a bad FET and is noisy. Evidently the bad part is not available anywhere. Are mods available for this mic to replace/upgrade the preamp? I think Jim Williams used to mod them, but his web site says he does do mic upgrades any more. I would like to have them be a more or less matched set, so I would be updating both mics.

Garry,
The problem with your post: you are soliciting business.
For those interested in helping Garry, please contact him privately, not on this forum.
Thanks,
KH

I'm sorry if I have not followed the rules, but the posting guidelines specifically encourage asking about microphone repair, and that is my question.

Can my mics be repaired (given the difficulty of finding replacement parts)?, And if so, I would welcome any recommendations on who to contact.

Garry

No hard feelings. If you need an original C412 FET, I'll send you one. Just let me know which one you have. Other than that, parts, aside of original housing parts and transformer(s), are readily available from parts houses.
