Title: The String and Return.
Post by: j.hall on May 19, 2005, 08:46:24 AM
some of you will remember a certain mastering drama i started over a record i made.  this happened in late feb. early march.

i received a fair amount of emails asking me to notify people when the record was finished and available for on-line purchase.

well, it's done...the CD release party was last saturday night and everything went really well.

you can grab a copy and see what you think here

They still went with Douches for the mastering after the job he did initially?  Did they actually get him to lay back on the compression some?

yeah....his name is in the credits.

he did about 8 versions until they were happy.  don't quote me on that number....it's a rough guess as they cut me out of the loop around revision #6.....for obvious reasons.

it is dynamic.  the loud parts are loud and a bit crispy, but ok.  the quiet parts are actually quiet.

it's a good record.  buy it if you liked what you heard way back when.....

The band really are a great bunch of guys... it was a pleasure working with them. It's nice to hear your comments on the mastering Jay... it really is a great record!

i guess i'm confused now.  your profile says you are an ME.  did Alan not do the final master on this record?

Of course he did! I'm his assistant - and was involved in the entire process - except for mastering of course. I have my own (small) list of clients that I master for.... hence the title ME. Everyone starts somewhere.

kim, i'm not putting you down for starting somewhere.  i just wanted to know what was up.

tread lightly on this string and return subject, if you really were around for it, you know what i'm talking about.

i'd love to hear some of your work.

email me please.

yes, "still proud", "it's true", "dead to me" and "the highway"

the chip didn't make the cut, even though i love that song.

still proud is an alternate version

dead to me is incredible on the record......
