Question to Neve´s Master Buss Processor II Users
Hi, folks

I know of two fellow mastering engineers here who have bought the Neve Portico Master Buss Processor II ( Jerry Tubb and Steve B.).

a) Where in the analog chain do you guys generally end up using it?

Right after d/ad, after any subtrative eq or as a last instance, prior to a/d?

b) Is the compression section as good as any other compressors ( STc8, Ocl2, API2500)?

I have just seen Jerry´s demo video (cool) but never had the opportunity to dig one unit in the real world.

I´m very curious about it!

Any info is greatly welcomed!

I usually have it right before the HEDD's input (sometimes I insert the BAX in there between the two, but I'm usually "getting my level" from MBP).

It's luscious.  I absolutely love the thing.

CONS:  No hard bypass -- If it's in - and it needs to be on, you're going through the thing (which can be luscious in and of itself).

Hello,

I use this unit as well in my setup; I like to think of it as "the ultimate utility"... basically adds almost everything most projects need right off the bat to get competing through the rest of the chain... so right after the D/A stage for me... also thinking about a Bax EQ between the two! (time will tell)

The compression is transparent, the silk and stereo field editor are a major bonus... I have been getting more and more into the limiter section of this unit lately as well... as always, trust your ears :)

Good gearslutz thread on this unit with samples included.

my setup is very similar also.  just before AD here...  sometimes i have an eq after it and before AD.
