Hi, I was mastering a rough mix for a female artist who did plenty succes at early 90's under Sony/Virgin label.
So I got a bunch of albums to get a serious listen/comparison: Seal IV, Lssa Stansfield's two last albums (Face Up and LS), Michael Jackson's Invincible and George Michael's PAtience.
GM's album sounded totally brittle with a strange huge peak around 12k/16k.
Seems the album was mixed in a room covered completly with foam and reverbers with no LPF. MJ's albums sounded pretty distorted and agressive.
The winners were Seal IV (bit darker tone but not squashed and nice)and the last Lisa's album named Face Up.
Have you guys had the opportunity to listen to the albums mentioned above?
