Title: Good insurance for home project studio, California, anyone?
Post by: AdamC on September 07, 2011, 05:37:19 PM
I've been havin a hell of time trying to find an insurance policy for my home project studio to get my gear covered.  Wondering if anyone in California or other states (I'm in Los Angeles) has had any luck with this.  First I was looking at renter's policies but they have minimal coverage for music gear.  Then I looked into business policies as I do some professional work but couldn't find anyone willing to cover over $10k worth of music gear.  Sounds like music equipment is a real hot potato for insurance companies.

Anyone one had any luck with this?

Homeowner policies do cover the studio and gear, if declared fiirst. I use ANPAC as they are about 20% less than the majors charge.

If only a renter, then you need to look into commercial insurance coverage for a renter's business. You will need to document everything, all serial numbers, etc.
