I am more or less a lurker, but find this site, and Whatever Works in particular, to be without equal, and by a long shot.
I hope those who have continued to keep this at a level of readability, education, class, and enjoyment, don't get lost in the shuffle into these new digs.

Agreed!
But while change is a scary thing and changes in communities are even scarier, I haven't seen anything on this new platform that would prevent me from coming here other than the initial shock of a new address and having to recreate my profile.
The archive issue is a touchy one but they claim that they will deal with it. We'll have to see.

Sorry to hear that... though the guys who are coming in are pretty cool and you might want to give them a chance. You'll see more closer to "opening day"... perhaps you should make that decision then.

Good question - but all things change from time to time... and this is one of those times.
I couldn't find a "real name" field on the registration page.
Fear not - while you will not have to "re-register" there are all kinds of registration parameters that new folks will have to fill out when they join... again it should all be in place before March 1st 2011
---- and before anybody asks... YES - much stuff from the previous "FUD" based site will be moving over to this new "SM" based site... a site [that once we get used to where all the buttons are] is a hell of a better solution. Better "search" function - quicker load time - better ability to handle photos, audio as well as video. In a few days of use your comfort level with the new layout will fall into place and I think you'll find a better overall experience... or at least that's the hope and the goal.

I had dinner with one of the moderators that will be joining the crew tonight... we had dinner at a Japanese restaurant where he was speaking Japanese to the staff... see, besides working a whole lot in the US [on many "big time" records that sold lots and lots of units] he worked in Japan a whole lot at the same time [with sales figures of about 30 million units in Japan alone].
He had some pretty funny stories about Waves and Avid too... which you might be able to get him to share when we kick this stuff off for real.
