Title: SXSW 2011
Post by: Allen Corneau on January 29, 2011, 09:50:04 AM
Howdy folks,

Checking in to see if anyone is making plans to attend SXSW this year. I know it's still a month and a half away, but I have to make plans early to make them happen.

I'm slightly ashamed to say this will be my first year to go.  Embarassed

Looks like some interesting panels on vinyl; both restoring/transferring the old and the making of the new.

I'm hoping to meet up with some of the guys I used to see at the old TapeOp conferences. Those used to be a lot of fun.

I went the better part of a decade ago, and found the panels and industry oriented stuff quick lacking.

I saw a lot of shows (well, I waited in a lot of lines), and a I witnessed a lot of debauchery, but there was nothing going on that appealed to my inner mastering engineer.

I'm not saying it wasn't worthwhile, but it wasn't particularly constructive or nourishing.  Good BBQ though.

Give us a holler when you're in town!

We always go to the big NARAS/Grammy party during SXSW week.

Great way to catch up with old friends.

I haven't ever paid to go to the conference, attended many times as a panelist, can be a good way to network and party hearty.

Cheers, JT
