Post by: j.hall on December 05, 2008, 10:04:10 AM
does anyone have a really good sample of a snare with the strainer off (snares turned off)  i need it in the next hour if you have one.

I think there are some open snares in the freebie GSCW kit.

The server where I found it is very slow... i'll see if I can download it and extract just the open snare wavs for ya.

I have it at home in the studio.. but I'm at work.

cool.

or just link me and i'll deal with it here.

the deeper into this mix i get the more i want to support this "snare" sound with a dry sample behind it.

Here are the GSCW open snares.

They're from this freebie kit, which is 185MB or so.

Should we start a thread with links to drum sample sets...that perhaps include some of our personal collections?  I just did a multisample set of a 4-piece kit with stereo room samples for each piece of the kit...so far it's been handy as hell for me and I know that from now on I need to make that sort of sample gathering SOP for sessions of mine...

At any rate, I'm more than willing to share what I got...anyone else interested?

They did.
But they also contained large attachments, so... I dunno.

Hope the samples worked for you.  They're not amazing, but they're the only "strainer off" samples I had on my laptop.

A collective sample depository is a good idea.  They had a forum at the MARSH (maybe they still do?), but it never took off.  I think it may have had something to do with PSW's data management problems, but I'm not sure about that.

It would have to be set up kind of like the IMP upload page, except with a way to add details about the samples and comments from those who've downloaded the samples (and maybe a rating system?).

Anyway, if we set something up, I certainly have a good collection of stuff I'd be willing to share.

i just needed a "support" sample, so they were great for that.

my email should be able to take a 50meg attachment.

maybe something is different with the iMap side of my hosting.

hope i'm not missing a bunch of emails.............
