Title: Digital Artifacts
Post by: SimonP on May 19, 2004, 02:07:35 AM
I recently got the UAD card and i've noticed a fairly serious problem.

When I mixdown with any of the plug ins in the stereo bus (Nuendo) I get a huge amount of artifacts even with the Apogee uv22 inserted.

This would normally sound like a dithering problem but the ticks are showing up everywhere regardless of dithering and the fact that the original material is 16but 44.1

This may be a simple adjustment but i'm out of ideas.

Any suggestions?

sounds like a driver issue

Is it sort of "pbbbht" distortion that seems to complement the program played through it?

I'd look at two things.

1.  Try setting your latency up a notch or two and see if it's still a problem.

2.  Use Windows System to take a look at IRQ and DMA channel sharing.  If the UAD1 is on the same IRQ as something (or for that matter, your sound card), physically move them around in the bus until they aren't conflicting.
