HELLO: THIS IS MY FIRST POST AND I AM HAVING DIFFICULTY WITH THE SOFTWARE(CUBASE AI4)THAT CAME BUNDLED WITH THE
YAMAHA MG 206-C MIXER USB. THE YAMAHA MIXER IS A FINE PRODUCT FOR LIVE MIXING ETC. HOWEVER PRIOR TO PURCHASING THIS UNIT I DID MY RESEARCH AND FOUND PROBLEMS WITH THE SOFTWARE AND DRIVERS AS PROVIDED BY YAHAMA. I'M KEEPING THIS UNIT AS A MIXER BUT I WANT TO HAVE IT AS A RECORDER IF NEEDED. I ALSO HAVE A KORG D3200 WHICH IS A STAND ALONE UNIT THAT WORKS GREAT (I ONLY HAVE TO LEARN HOW TO REALLY USE IT !). THE YAMAHA IS FINE FOR PRACTISING THROUGH HEADPHONES ETC......MY QUESTION IS: IS THERE ANY RELIABLE ALTERNATIVE SOFTWARE TO REPLACE THE CUBASE AI4 AND ALSO AN AUDIO INTERFACE TO GO IN BETWEEN THE MIXER AND MY PC( A NEW DELL LAPTOP IS ON THE WAY WITH WINDOWS 7). THE PEOPLE (TECH/ SALES) WHERE I PURCHASED THE YAMAHA RECOMMMENDED THAT I BUY
( $400 + $400) Cakewalk SONAR 8 Producer AND Digidesign Mbox 2 USB Audio Interface ....RIGHT NOW I'M TAKING MY TIME AND DECIDING WHICH WAY TO GO....FUNNY THING IS I KNEW THAT MOVING INTO PC MUSIC WAS GOING TO BE A HEADACHE...BUT WHAT I WANT TO DO IS DO IT WITHOUT STABBING AROUND BUYNG STUFF HOPING THAT IT WILL WORK......IT CAN BECOME A SINK-HOLE FOR $$$$$$$...THANKS A LOT FOR LETTING ME POST....I HOPE TO GET SOME FEEDBACK FROM THOSE WHO ARE MORE EXPERIENCED THAN I AM......RROE......

imo, cubase ai4 should be at least as reliable as any daw software.
so i wonder why you would seek a different daw? your sales associate
would profit if you bought two more daws, but how would it help you?

Thanks for the quick reply...I am in the position of taking my time with this . The real problem seems to be with Yamaha and their drivers, etc....With Windows 7 coming out this week, I'll wait and continue on with my Korg which is up and running....
I'll post again...thanks.....rroe......
