Hello! I saw something interesting as I was on twitter this morning . . its a recording studio that allows you to submit your recorded tracks and you choose the services you want done (ie. mixing or vocal tuning) and they do them and return the tracks to you. now as a guy who loves guitar this is very interesting to me. I cant afford to talk into a studio and record then have them work on my stuff but this is very affordable. I think I am going to test this service. If anyone is interested to know the out-come i will post it here when i get my track back. I am going to submit a poor guitar recording and see what they do. Wow. That's amazing. Maybe I should just send the files that I have to you guys to mix. Then I could just hang out at the beach and get a tan.
Why is it that 3 8 hour days is $700, but 5 8 hour days of VIP service is is $2800? I notice it's your first post...

The really interesting ones are the ones that offer "re-amp" services... you send them your guitar tracks with a rough mix and you get tracks run through an appropriate amplifier and re-recorded sent back to you. There are some that are as inexpensive as $100 USD per track!! ...and have some "classic" [and often great] amplifiers in their collection.

Oh man I'm in the wrong line of work (cartographer). I have a line 6 POD with all kinds of classic amps up in there, it's just sitting around waiting for some re-amping business to start rolling in! I'm heading off to start building my web site right now. ;)

Sorry mate - if you think a Line 6 anything is going to give you an actual guitar sound you are part of the problem and have very little to do with the solution.
I'm talking about a real studio, with real amplifiers, real microphones, real converters and skilled engineers to accomplish your goal. If you can't tell the difference between the two I'm sorry to hear this... but it is very similar to wacking off to a porn site vs. a well skilled $1000/night call girl... one will leave you with a smile and a night to remember, the other will "get the job done" so you can move onto other things.
In my world - life is too short for compromises... but as always, YMMV.

I've had this very antisocial fantasy of moving out to some wilderness somewhere where land is cheap, and build a complex of really good sounding rooms of different types as echo chambers. People would email me audio to re-mic with the ambiences. The rooms would have a moveable source speaker array, which could project at various angles. You could have multiple baffles and dampening material to shape the rooms as well. Imagine multiple source arrays at varying locations each with one violin or singer track to great lifelike ensemble ambience. Truthfully I don't think I'd mind being a hermit. Me, my music, and big reverb. I've had this idea (like plenty of ppl I'm sure) for over 15 years. When things get me down it's always there for me. :)

Why not? ... but remember, this isn't an "if you build it - they will come" kind of thing... in addition to building your fantasy room in the woods you will need to find a way to spread the word that your work is: A) excellent, B) necessary to make a project attain better results.
Building facilities is easy [all ya need is cash]... making them a viable business ain't easy... especially in today's environment.
