Hi,
What are the main diffrences in terms of SOUND between the At4040, At4047 and the At4050 at cardioid pattern?
I have 4050s and 4040s here but never had the opportunity to try an At4047.
To me the 4040 sounds fuller on vocals but do not seem to have the same off-axis response of the AT4050.
Also.. what is all about this At4047? I have seen it on some USA stores with a price tag almost equal to his Bigger brother 4050.!
Thanks

The 4047 has a transformer and is much darker than the 4050. 4047 rounds off the top a bit and has more 'guts.' The 4050 is a cleaner, more 'extended' sound.

thanks. So it seems the 4047 would make a better job over the 4050/4040 with over sibilant voices?

yes it would, but my experience is that the 4047, which I like for some things, is a bit too grainy for most vocals...unless you really want a gritty sound. Also, the top, while not as much as the others, is still "peaky" and not smooth so the sibilance can still be a problem.

go no go hehehee

What kinda music is it? I used to have samples of these mic's online, but took them down.
The 4047 is a bit "grainy", but could be just what your looking for. Other than that I'd recommend either a 4060 or looking into something like Soundelux.
