What I like most is Progressive Rock and New Age, but a good
learning experience (especially for female vocal processing)
would be...

...oh god, the guys gonna kill me...

Country rock?

I thought I might have something interesting but I just checked the old session folder and the recorded files take up close to 3 Gigs . .. COMPRESSED! Laughing

I guess not then ...

Whoa.. how long is that tune and how many tracks?   Shocked   Might take some time, but I wonder if you can reduce it if you consolidate down to the best takes/comps, and export out just the final (but unprocessed) tracks.

The track isn't very long but there are 10 musicians in the band and everything is multi-miked. (10 mics on the drums for instance). And indeed there are multiple takes for most instruments.

When I have some time, I'll go through the project and see what is left after removing all the unused takes etc. That would probably be for IMP 8 though as it could take some time.

The project is interesting because of all the different instruments. On the other hand, it was recorded when I was still at school so it might not be the best recording arround.  Rolling Eyes

Hey J we are actually in the process of trying/reviewing mix's/mastering from several sources ( U included !!) I have several songs that would fit the bill for IMP.

What format do you use ?? and how do you make the tracks available ??

I for one would love a shot at some Buzz tracks, if not IMP7 then sometime.

I know IMP5 was 16 bit, which kept the size down. But I think that was their original bit depth anyway. Some kind soul was able to host the files. I don't know that the same hosting solution is always available though.

I'm working on a "Queens Of The..."  style EP right now that I would love to have ready for submitting this round. But it looks like we will not be finished tracking in time.  I will submit something for IMP8 though, for sure...

As for genre:  Bring it on baby, any genre any style, any time. ('cept country) ... (Of course now that I have said that J will find us a country tune... LOL)

I have some rockabilly/country that might work. Low track count, all tracked in the same room kinda thing. Drums, upright, acoustic, electric and vocals. If you want to check it out let me know and I'll talk to the band.

Now if you have one of these which we can't sneak preview on your
daughters homepage (which is quite good BTW) and PM J.Hall with a
link it'll be perfect (maybe too late for this IMP, but you can't
have too much possible mixes at hand for later IMPs).

The guys gonna kill me anyway!

a song has been selected and is ready to upload.  i just need a server to put it on for every one to grab it.

i'm assuming garret is MIA for this IMP with his second child's arrival.

tom, can you handle this on your FTP?  if so, PM me the upload details so i can pass them along.

woo hoo... Let the games begin!

Can the "yousendit" web service handle the file?  That may be an option to the ftp.

Last time i checked you could only send files 100MB large with yousendit...

Ah, indeed... yousendit.com has reduced their free upload from 1gb to 100mb...

I googled around and found this alternative w/ a 1gb limit.

I'm trying it now...

Terms seem good... 1gb limit file size, no max downloads, 7 days before stuff gets deleted.

Absolutely.

The only selection process is finding tracks for everyone to mix. Anyone can download the tracks and submit a mix up until the deadline.

After that, I think the mix discussions are an open forum.
