Title: Where can I get some precision roller guides for my MTR-10 Tape Deck
Post by: Thomas W. Bethel on January 25, 2015, 05:07:25 PM
I raised this question on the old forum.

I really love my Otari MTR-10 but the guides are all fixed and we are doing a lot of tape transfers and I would like to update the machine to precision roller guides. Thanks in advance for any assistance in this quest.

Here is a link to the old site and the questions and answers. http://repforums.prosoundweb.com/index.php?topic=33377.0

Tom,

I spent a lot of money at a machine shop to modify my 10. Another option would be to call Michael Romanowski at the Tape Project and ask if their 5050 bearing mods would work for the 10. And if you can ditch the erase and record heads and replace them with another flutter roller that would help too.

I use an A80 90% of the time now but lots of old 1/4" 1/4 track tapes stilll come in and the 10 is perfect for that.

John French is the first person that jumps to mind.  He made some custom rollers for me several years ago on some Lyrec machines.  It was a home run job, way out of the park quality.

The other name to look into might be MDI Precision Motorworks.  Jeff Gilman I believe is his name.

Let us know where you land.
