Title: Klaus: Any update on the publication of your Microphone book?

I know I and many others anxiously are awaiting publication of your book on microphones.
Not to be pushy or demanding but how is it progressing?
When published, it will be added to my fairly large volume of reference material.

I am still writing and re-writing. I'll announce when the book gets close to publishing date.

Just out of curiosity and while the subject is up.
Will you include anything on the Swedish tube mics like Sela T24-T25-T26 and the Pearl range with AC701 tubes??

I had planned some Pearl inclusion in the book, but am short on authoritative info (web searches are not what my book is based on; if anything, the book's whole premise is to cut through the clutter and confusion of too web information, and put an order of relevancy into that information.

Hi again Klaus.

At Pearl the man to talk to is the current owner, Bernt Malmqvist, he has been with the company since 1954 and I guess he knows everything there is to know and it would be first hand knowledge.

It is to bad that you are not planning anything with Sela, I do know though that first hand information is hard to come by about them.
But in my opionion they are one of the best large diaphragm tube condenser mics ever built, up there with the big five.
I own several examples if you would ever need photographs of any.

Thanks. Including SELA, regardless of its merits, would make the focus of this book too narrow in its role as handbook / primer on vintage mics. This entry might better fit in a history or picture book on quality mics.

How many Sela's were made?Were they just for the Swedish film industry?They very rarely come up on auction.

I have a PT-8 which is cathode follower,EF95,and what appears to be a real Neumann m7.It came with a Lomo supply and I believe the circuit is very similar to the lomo's.It's the roundest sounding tube mic I have and resultantly not versatile,though when it's good,it's amazing.

Yes, the Selas were made for mostly Swedish film industries but also theaters and Swedish radio had them.
The PT series is rare but the T24-T27 sometimes show up here in Sweden.
The T24-T27 are my favorite tube mics ever and they sound fantastic.
They bought M7 (T24) and K47 (T25-T27) capsules from Neumann and used the AC701k tubes but they have their own sound compared to say a M49.
