Title: OK...I'm here
Post by: Extreme Mixing on January 17, 2011, 11:38:42 AM
So this is the new forum.  Hope it all works out.  I don't like having to scroll all the way down to get to WW.  I also DON'T LIKE TO TYPE THE LETTERS EVERY TIME I POST.  That's a very bad idea.

AHA, now I know what you mean by the verification.  Over the weekend, I had to verify every post.  This morning, I've made a couple of posts and neither asked for verification.

Either they turned off the feature last night, or once you get over a certain number of posts they don't require you to do that anymore.

Like the alternative theme, looks less cluttered!

Testing. Debasing.

Sometime debasing is exactly what's required.

OK well… let's see how this all pans out.

This is great news.

On another note, the Previous/Next buttons on the bottom right does not bring the next page to the top automatically which is a bit tedious.

I for one would like to see the instant and forever removal of the karma buttons.  I was moderator for a while at a site that had these things, and all it did was turn an otherwise decent forum into a 'vote for homecoming queen'/'vote for class nerd' contest...

Granted, we are (theoretically) a few steps above that crowd, but c'mon, do we really need this?  Granting someone karma or slapping them with a smite is 4th grade stuff

I agree completely.  It's one thing to have something on the marketplace page, it's another to have it in the general post area.  Although it is a great way to prevent people from speaking frankly on a topic...

How are you guys uploading avatars? I browse to my new one, click upload, but when I click on the change profile button, I get a warning that my picture isn't an avatar.

It's a jpeg, 80 x 80 pixels--seems like others are able to upload a personal avatar.

I just did mine in the usual way - browse, select, save changes.

Hello there. Good to be able to post with my real identity. I was dying for an excuse to shed the old one anyway.

The smilies suck by the way.

I thought I posted in this thread, but it ended up in the Monitors thread.  Testing this one out.

I'd love to see it be required that all posters must be registered with their full real names.

Hi all,

I do hope that the heart and soul of this community make it over to here.

I´m in total agreement with the suggestion that Ken makes, of losing the "karma" points. They smack too much of teenage cliques. Frankly, even the loss of post counts doesn't bother me, I know, after having read the forum for a while, whose opinion/advice I value and whose to take with a grain of salt.

Long Live WhateverWorks,
Karl

I've already been "smite-ed" (smote?).   :-[

What'd I say, what'd I say?

(just having a laugh.....)

Can anything be more useless and unprofessional than this karma thing?

Greetings-

I had joined the forum a month ago and now I have joined this new version.

I have a 1972 Spectra Sonics mixer, 1020-16-2-1, and I'm trying to learn as much as I can from fellow SS users and afficionados.

I've heard from a couple of well informed associates who have responded to my postings, but I'm not sure I've got this right, or that I am being thorough.

Please write if you'd like to discuss this type of mixer and its components.

I have no idea how many complete SS boards are left besides mine.

Thank you for your consideration.

Armand
