Title: offtopic: Anyone know about Killer Home Recording Ebook?
Post by: 2005STiGuy on January 12, 2010, 09:03:33 PM
Has anyone heard of Killer Home Recording?  The creator of Recording Review . com wrote it.  Anyways its an ebook that is wrapped around starting your own home recording business and dives in how to handle, any and everything really.  He has a chunk of the ebook for free at the moment.  I have read about 12-15 pages of it and its quite incredible.  I didn't realize there was someone with a personality that can actually write something like this.  Either way, I thought this could be helpful with some of your audio recordings.  It has helped me so far.....

Spammed?  I'm a troll dude, I hang out at different recording sites and thought this could be something to share.  If you think I am a spamaholic, take a look at the link.  I get nothing.

It's a FREE Download!!  How can I make anything off this?  I have only pointed you to the FREE section, I didn't send you to the BUY NOW section.  Either way, believe what you want, I just want to help.

Hey Matt,

It's cool. So do you want to talk about condenser microphones or digital versus analog or something?

For what my opinion is worth -  It is a really good book for beginners. I'm a friend of Brandon's and a moderator on his forum.
He explains the concepts in plain English and in an entertaining way.
You guys really aren't the target market for the book series.

My girlfriend used to work as a graphic designer for an ad agency (several actually, but I digress) and one of her work friends' sole job was to do exactly this for major label clients and film studio clients.

The job was to go to internet message boards, create a profile, pose as a thirteen year old girl, and talk about how great Batman was and how dreamy Christian Bale is, or how awesome the new Vampire Weekend record is.

This guy literally got paid $75k a year to impersonate a teenager online for 40 hours a week. And he was not the only one at that agency, and they were by far not the only agency doing this.

Good lord, I would love to be making any money off doing this.  So much for all that.  To bad for me, I picked the wrong profession, cleaning cars and updating awful websites.http://semomotorcompany.com/(where I work)

If anyone is curious, here's a video Brandon made to help "sell" his book.  Take a look if you would like.

This reminds me of that bit during the 2008 primaries, when Mark Penn kept saying, "it's our campaign's policy not to mention our opponent's COCAINE use, because we don't feel it's relevant," over and over again.

that's exactly what it is, and I know I shouldn't be on this forum talking about how to sell Killer Home Recording Setting Up with a free download that I don't make any money on so I won't mention it. Wink

I think you should take a look at the credits of a few of the members of this forum. Not many beginners around here, but plenty of guys with lots of real world experience sharing knowledge. Around here you can ask if anyone knows about the making of an album and often get first hand info. I sometimes feel like a bit of a beginner alongside these guys and I've been working professionally for over 18 years.

Well said. There is no good reason for beginners to have to work under the additional burden of ill informed advice when questions can be put to people who've been there and still do that.

Since most of you are very experienced, can you give me some insight on what you think of this "setting up" section.  Your professional opinion?  It would be nice to get some sort of "review" from someone that has been in the field much longer than a beginner.

All right, this finally did it for me:

"All along the way they through big money at problems that are often solved with knowledge and tactics."

I am moving this away to The Saloon.

I'll drink to that, but the Saloon is generally literate. This puppy might not survive there.

I'm SO glad that this isn't advertising or anything.

Mind you, I'd tell your friend that perhaps he ought not to use such a poorly-engineered V.O. as a 'shop-window' for recording "how-to" book... -Seriously.

I think they plagarized this line from a biography of Douglas McArthur.
