Played hockey both ways which was great as a center.
Play guitar right handed.
My fly reel winds on the right side which is either "the proper way" or left handed depending on how you look at it.

It's true the left hand is the side of judgment. And in some cultures, people wipe themselves with their left hands and eat from the community food bowl with their right.
I would expect lefthanders here to be 3% of the population as they are in the general population.
Ambidexterous: left handers are truly ambidexterous. And I don't mean they mix with both hands, etc. It is extremely unusual to find a truly left handed person -- a person who does everything left handed. Most left handers switch between left and right.
I eat right handed but write left. I bat right handed and am right footed. But I throw left handed. My right hand is the hand of precision (so I cut tape right handed) but my left hand is the one with dexterity so when I play guitar, I have the pick in my right hand but finger the strings with my left.
I think such things are true of most left handers. And we are proud to be left handed no matter how we've been viewed throughout history.

I was also a lefty, beaten into rightdom by nuns with nasty habits. I held a pencil in a fist for around 2 years. My handwriting never was worth a crap.
I started playing guitar lefty, then switched to right after a couple years.
... and voted right handed.

see, i would think lefthanders here to be greater than the general population. I've always associated lefthandedness and creative personality.

Yes, this is very intestingk...33% left right now.... At first I thought what a silly poll,... but truly enlightening from the psychological perspective... right brain left brain thing.... (lefty's using the right side of their brain which is the "creative" side...)

but when i was kid, i use to start writing with my left hand and then in the middle of the page (going across) switch to my right hand. not sure why i stopped other than it being weird.

Maybe this poll shows that there are more left handed people in this field.
Which would make sense because of the traditional association of left handedness with "creativity". (this could be due to some kind of genetic linkage, brain half dominance or simply that the creative types are more likely to resist being converted to right handedness.)
But maybe all this poll shows is that left handers are more likely to vote in a poll about handedness.
Which would make sense since they often see themselves as an 'oppressed' minority and would want to make a statement by voting in a poll. Maybe the righties, comfortable in their dominance, are skipping the poll.

That's an interesting supposition.... There is a lot of data which has been generated by studies of hand dominance and creativity which indicate a much higher number of lefties among creative types, but I wonder if I would have started this poll if I was a righty - however - if I was I might be intimidated to know how many lefties were lurking here....
