The last time I was in Memphis (four or five years ago), it was all but a wasteland, at least every part of it I saw.  It was quite depressing.

Brad, all I can say is I'm glad I got the heck out of there when I did and crime was a deciding factor for me, even back in '98. All we get is Memphis news and every morning it's pretty much the same, last night, (x) people murdered, (x) people raped, (x) home invasions. Too much to list.  Honestly, Oxford's feeling a little too close to Memphis these days.  Mad

Oh great.  I have to find this out, being there today, and for the next few days.

Thanks.

Will call you tomorrow.

Or PM me your H) or C) tonite.

Terry,

Memphis has just been waiting for you to come and turn it around.

Now that you've arrived, how could it not be wonderful?

In fact, even tonight as I look towards Memphis (from Saint Louis) I can see a kind of holy glow on the horizon.  Oh.  That's the house next door.  Never mind.

Well, Memphis is the #2 most violent city per capita in the US...

And yes, I'm glad I got out when I did as well. It's pretty grim now.

There was a time when St. Louis was the country's murder capital.  But that's because they included East St. Louis (which is in Illinois and not Missouri).

The film, "National Lampoon Vacation" is very unfair to STL as it really represents East St. Louis.  And Harold Ramis knows it because he attended Washington University here.

Butthead.

"honky lips" on the Family Truckster was pretty funny, though.

My town would be in the top three if they hadn't "inadvertantly" left out the aggrivated assaults from the report.
