Title: The GOP is Wrecked
Post by: Larrchild on October 07, 2008, 12:15:24 PM
In 2000, the third element in the trifecta of Permanent Republican Rule was set in place as George Bush's son, George W. Bush was put into the office of President of the United States.  A close election, helped by his brother, the Governor of Florida, resulted in a photo-finish, but the last piece of the puzzle for a 1000 year GOP rule was finally achieved.

The keys to this well-oiled machine were handed over to the current president.

Having now mangled everything he has touched, or even gone in the near-proximity of, the reputation of the GOP for results is somewhat diminished as this election season draws to an end.

As McCain is learning, It's Hard out there for a Pimp.

Assuming a loss this November, the GOP will look inward and attempt to redefine itself, in their plans for the 2012 election.

I'm wondering if they will try to re-intellectualize the party?
Since Gerald Ford, and certainly from Reagan onward, they seem to choose malleable people of average intelligence, who can be fed words written in back rooms by those much smarter.

I guess that Nixon taught them a lesson about presidents with too much IQ, lol.

The courting of the Guns and God crowd in the 80's, when Falwell visited Reagan and literally promised him votes from the pulpit, cast the mold for the current neocon demographic, but it has also caused the party great heartburn.
Sarah Palin could be the latest example of what happens when you dumb-down too much.

So the question is, will the new, shiny, Improved GOP for 2012 contain smarter people?
Or is it too late for all that, lol?
