Hmm.. imagine a very dumb squirrel, with injuries, and covered in insulation. M |

Phase two is installing a new ceiling, new bass trapping, new console, rewiring and bamboo flooring in the control room. |
floodstage wrote on Mon, 03 April 2006 20:20
What's the new (or new to you) console? |
Invisible Member wrote on Mon, 10 April 2006 13:24 |
Is that a M&M bag or does /0 have a partially eaten chocolate male member trapped under his tenny runners? I don't know how much progress you'll make Fibes with Miles Pussy footing around all the time! |

Are you guys going to leave the cement block wall bare?.. |
Fibes wrote on Tue, 11 April 2006 11:49
Not wholly. The plan is to cover the wall behind the drums with maple plywood with holes drilled in it and stuffed with 703. A sort of bass trap that will also be angled to get rid of the flutter off of the control room window directly across from it. |
Fibes wrote on Tue, 11 April 2006 11:49 |
We may not do anything if there isn't a problem. This is all done on an as needed basis. |

rankus wrote on Tue, 11 April 2006 18:24 Ahh .. Plywood and drums... is there any better combo? I think not. This is one of our projects if we ever get around to it... building a removable unpainted plywood floor under the drums for resonance.... |

Today I just bought 16 2X2 "DryLock" panels. They have them at Home Depot if you have not seen them. Basically they are tongue and groove panels made out of plywood. The bottom of each panel has rubber on it so it isolates from the floor below. With these I made a removeable drum riser. Not sure how it will sound yet but I could report back if wanted. BTW the 16 panels cost about $95 total. This might meet your needs as well. |

I don't recall that Electrical had any exposed cement block. Tons of exposed Adobe walls though. Big difference between the two I believe. (edit) and as soon as i open my big hands and start typing, i go to the electrical site... lo and behold, there is some exposed cement block in the studio b liveroom. my bad. |

Hey Scott, Unpainted, CAREFULLY sealed (or unsealed) concrete block is a very useful acoustic material, with good adsorption behavior up to about 4k. If you use it carefully, typically the only other thing the space needs is diffusion. Painted or heavily sealed, though, the stuff turns into a nightmare. RPG's diffusorblox product is an interesting to investigate http://www.rpginc.com/products/diffusorblox/ |

We just went over budget by 200 dollars, it's an 800 sf facility and we're gonna come in around 12 bucks a foot if you don't count the soul I traded to Miles... |

The $200 was actually spent on crack, because to do this crap, you have to be high... on crack. |

I'm not sure I understand how you keep roof noise out. What's the structure made of from the roof down to the ceiling treatment? |

Yes. That 'splains it! A different question. How close are those Adam's to the wall behind them? |

Those walls are AWESOME, they just look so "fun", and the whole CR is looking great! I guess my question is - how did you find a house with a basement in Savannah?? -Lance |

Wow!!! judging by the pictures and jovial mood (and of course, y'alls kick-ass room design) me thinks i should start renovating my place too. What difference is there between the low-end and broadband absorbers? Also, in the 'CRFrontwall' pic I noticed the acoustic material (703s?) look different in the middle than on the "sides" of the front wall. Is there an actual difference? |

Miles deserves a medal of honor for yesterdays paint session. I was only their for 1/2 of it and I felt as though I was tear gassed and covered in oil to be set on fire... There will be pics as soon as the paint is in a non-volatile state and i can stand in their without vomiting. Oil paint + ceilings/trusses + airless sprayer + room with no windows = hell on earth. |
