Title: To HD2 Accel+Mac Pro 2.66 users
Post by: Alécio Costa - Brazil on May 06, 2007, 11:26:38 PM
Hello
Soon I will be using this setup and I would like to know your choices, regarding CPU power:

a)Are you folks still mainly using TDM bundles/plugins or have considered going with the cheaper native versions?

I'm asking this because I have considered purchasing McDSP Emerald Bundle or the Waves Gold Native Bundle.

b)Are you using Toast 7, 8 for burning your CD Masters? (I'm coming from Toast 5.1.2)

c) What other utilities could be considered essential? Disk Warrior? Data Rescue II?
(I stayed over 5 years using a pretty stable OS 9.2/5.1.3, with Norton SW .)

d)Which have been your favorite EQ/Comp plugins?
Waves SSl?
URS N series?
Sony Oxford (Sonnox)?
Mc DSP Channel G?

e)what is the preferrable Ram size?

Thanks again!

I'm using that computer with an HD4 accel along with a Digi expansion chassis.

a.) I use everything TDM except for altiverb I use RTAS and can get 4 or 5 Stereo reverbs successfully I purchased the TDM version but apparently it isn't compatible with my expansion chassis.

b.) Toast 8 is killer for data, etc. But I still use Jam for burning masters, cd text, and printing track sheets.

c.) I still use disk warrior in theory, but I haven't really used it yet with this setup (had it for 7 months now)

d.) For EQ I use a combo of all the URS stuff depending on what I want to hear. For compression I generally don't use plug-ins. If I really need to the Chandler TG1234 plug-in isn't bad for vocs/overheads. And actually the URS 1980 is great for deessing.

e.) I have 4 gigs. And that seems to be treating me well.
