I'll just post this instead of coming up with my own arguements and opinions (I'm such a sheep ... isn't that ironic?)
http://atheistblogger.com/2008/02/15/101-atheist-quotes/
I particularily like this one:
"I contend that we are both atheists. I just believe in one fewer god than you do. When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours." - Stephen Roberts
(please don't take this as preaching, which we all hate ... I don't wanna get the ban stick!)

It is said that he said as he bled
Forgive them father, for they know not what they do
For they walk through this life in toe-crampity shoes.

If you've got one "really good" God, then how many do you need? A perfect one should fill the bill. Perfect Love from a Perfect God at a (for you) bargain price.

I recently read a wonderful excerpt from Julia Sweeney's "Letting go of god". One thing she said that I liked is that she doesn't refer to herself as an athiest because that's a negative, defining one's self in terms of what you aren't; and because it puts it in terms of religion, the presumption that we need to get away from. She refers to herself as a naturalist.
