Title: Need Advice on Best Distribution for Indie Project...

Need advice on what you guys would say the best distro would be for a band (with limited to no budget) with a completed record to get their product to the masses. Any way to actually talk with a major dist. comp. without going through a record label? How could indie bands get their shite out to Best Buy, Target, etc. if this is what they wanted to do? Anyone dealt with this? Any help would be very much appreciated.

oh man....talk about my current events here
i'm sort of in the same boat
although, i have a record in the can (almost) and i want a small label to pick it up
i know the Best Buy thing is possible with out a label. i've had a small handful of friends get their records in there
i'll try to check into that.
as far as distro houses......i'm not that familiar with how they do business as far as picking up new artists but you can't go wrong contacting insound and CDnow to see if they will carry your stuff.
i've never let a person saying "NO" stop me from asking
they will say yes, or they will say no......
