There is some extremely important information contained in this Forum, and still occasional posts in a couple of the big threads. In this modern world, why do we have to have more, faster, bigger, louder, all the time? What doess it hurt if this sits and waits for that one important question or answer? |

Well, I hope that at least you have learned your lesson. Yet you have single-handedly resuscitated a worthy Forum. Others need be neither green with envy, nor purple with rage. Rather they should join in the fertile field of repartee. And personally, I must (ca) tell you that I approve. In appreciation, the next time you come here, or I go there, we must (ca) dine together to celebrate. Actually, I am in concord with every word you say. So let's keep things juicy around here, and never welch on our deals. We shall continue to plant the seeds of information, and thence reap the harvest of our efforts. For after all, we are not a bunch of goofs, but rather a group who shall flower, never leaving our goals to wither away on the vine. For we have stamen power, and shall not graft insidious concepts onto our intended purposes. I, for one, shall cultivate quality, pruning with care. Carry on. As long as I don't have to eat the green paste! Anytime! Cheers (as in "a toast") Post by: oldgearguy on April 06, 2008, 08:48:42 PM So, the jokes that contain a raisin - a twist on reality or an unexpected ending are more humorous and valued than the standard fare. For me, the internet presents a lot of regular loaves of bread, but these forums are worth reading through all the posts for those raisins that pop up from time to time. It's the raisins that keep me coming back. Post by: compasspnt on April 07, 2008, 12:20:20 AM

The railroad called the station Lucy, but the postal authorities rejected it - wanting something more distinctive. The name Raisin was chosen to honor a local rancher (J. K. Reeves) who had tried to grow grapes. Judging by the name - it wasn't a successful venture. The nearby German settlement of Coletoville took an interest in Raisin - probably due to the depot. C. T. Friedrichs, built a gin, and a man named Kohl built a store. Frederichs was the first postmaster and Kohl the second - serving from 1901 until 1914 1914: Post office closes 1930: The American Railway Express office, closes and Southern Pacific discontinues passenger service - a result of a drop in passengers from the opening of highway 59. The population of the Raisin-Coletoville area has remained at about fifty persons from the early 1900s to the present Post by: maxim on April 07, 2008, 10:40:28 PM Post by: compasspnt on April 08, 2008, 12:08:14 AM Post by: rankus on April 10, 2008, 03:41:11 PM
