Hello,
Please look at the photos:
http://picasaweb.google.com/OlehMalyy/SonyC500/
and tell me whether the capsule looks like it is original.
It seems a little smaller than the capsule in Sony's C37(A&P) and C38B.
Thanks,
Best regards,
Oleh

The capsule can be original.
C37 capsule has the same "transparent plastic ring" around the capsule, but on c37 is bigger.
How it sounds?

C500 have less noise than c37p
maybe more "soft" than c37a (but now i use c37a with capsule from c38b)
more "bulk" sound than c37a and c37p (IMHO)
very transparent
in any case, as for me, c500 excellent microphone
as all Sony mics ;)
sorry, but my English is bad and I can’t explain nuances

I have 2 c37p... last year i have tested some different capsules in one mic. C37p + k67 capsule sounds great... better than the original capsule.

interesting
thanks for information
will try
and sorry,
maybe you have information how to change C37P for decrease the noise
C37P excellent mic, but sometimes its noise irritates me

C37p have very low output... then you need more gain in pre-amp...
Here, i use for voiceover: u87Ai = 35 dB, c37p 55dB , i need 20dB more gain.
The best pre-amp that i found for c37p, that results lower noise is Shadow Hills Mono Gama.
The one that i've tested with k67 have +3db more output.

Thanks,
Will try to find Shadow Hills Mono Gama. That is problem here (in Ukraine) to find Shadow Hills products and 500 lunchbox too. But will try.
I use C37p with Groove Tubes Vipre (gain 70+5) and Aurora GTQ2 (gain 80) - enough.
But with more gain, the noise not less.
