Ever an optimist, I'm here, hoping for a good outcome.

p.s.  "shortcuts: hit alt+s to submit/post or alt+p to preview"  doesn't work for me, OS X 10.5.8, Safari 5.0.3.

Hi, as a test for Terry, can someone report my last post to the moderator?  Let us know how the process works.

Done. A little banner came up that said, 'Your report has been sent successfully.'

I hope the mods aren't too snowed under right now ...  :-\

what's with the new smileys?  :o

Well, theoretically, in this case "the mod" is Terry and I'm hoping that he's not snowed under in the Bahamas!

Maybe snowed under by work, but hopefully not frozen precipitation.

Maybe snowed under by work, but hopefully not frozen precipitation.

Heh, yeah I meant with all the work (guess it's a Brit phrase?) I'm assuming he has in sorting out our new home and dealing with tons of questions, bugs and other hassle.

PS - I've just discovered the little 'expander button' at the bottom of the text frame that you can drag downward to enlarge the box so that you can see more of what you are posting ...

OK, you got me here. Now what?
Well, no one's REALLY going to come over "here" until they're forced to stop going to the old hangout.

I'm just trying to figure out all of the controls.

I do think that the text interface is better.

I don't like the fact that when I finish a post, it kicks me out of the thread and back to the lobby.  I also haven't been able to figure out how to see what I've read or not read yet.

Did anyone else realize that there so many subtle shades of blue?   ;D

I wonder if this version of the forum will disappear every damn day for about 90 minutes while it counts its finger and toes.

:o

One would hope that by changing forum software to one where - almost to a man - anyone who knows anything about this stuff has said this software is the wrong choice, that they might get one thing right.

Still...judging by the way the announcements regarding the change have been handled - or more accurately not handled - I don't hold out much hope.

Cheers,
Tim

Tim, the Forum is not down any more during those dreadful hours (10.00 AM to 12 AM here in France)

It's 10.15 and am posting right now

Strange....very strange... I wonder if they will be able to alter the look and feel.

It would be nice to add another color besides blue...

Having the red alerts on the old site to let you know when a new post had come in since the last time that you checked is very helpful.  Yes, there is the "new" burst on this one, but it's not very noticeable.

Well, new profile created... phew...

Seriously, that Karma crap HAS to go...  Seems like the visual chaos factor is much higher here... (sigh..)  If I drag the window over to hide the massive 30% of the screen taken up by non-stop ads, I lose the scrollbar...  Aaarrrgghhh...

Terry, Ross, please tell us you're migrating over here, yes?  If not, I think I'll quietly drift away...

Cheers,
JB

Using the opportunity to do the same while quoting you. Yes, the verification went away this time. Is this something that's specific to the IP address used?

Why is there always one character in the verification that IN NO FUKIN WAY resembles ANYTHING in the English alphabet?

A straight line with some squiggly POS through it is NOT a "V".

So glad I'm not alone. Confounding, horrid things. But if it helps to keep the nonsense out I'll deal with it....dean
