As I have been a good boy, today I bought myself a little gift...
A Great River Electronics MP-2NV
Basically I wanted it to fill that horrible hole in my rack (je, je)
Seriously, my little studio is growing, and I wanted just high end gear. My next purchase will be an optical compressor. I was thinking in the Manley ELOP or the Pendulum OCL-2.
I know both a great compressor and don?t know which to buy.
The Pendulum seems to be more flexible because it has many attack, release, ratio, etc options, contrary to the manley, which is very minimalist.
Any thoughts about this? Wich one is your favorite and why?
I primary want it for tracking voice and individual instruments (guitar, bass, flute, etc)
Thanks

The Pendulum OCL-2 is amazing - good enough I bought one for my (mastering) rack...

Thanks Brad. i?ve been searching in this and other forums and people seems to like very much the Pendulum opto compressor . They say Its sound is cleaner (meaning less tube colored) and certainly is more flexible than the Manley EL-OP, because of the options in attack, release, etc. wich make it a very versatile tool.
On the other hand I?m sure the Manley is a great compressor too, with a very sweet sound (actually I have the Manley Dual Mic Pre and simply LOVE IT), and because its operation is simpler (just two knobs), it makes difficult for me to do stupid things when use it .
Unfortunately, I can?t afford to have both, so maybe I?ll save my pennies for the Pendulum for its flexibility...
...or not?
aahhh!!! decisions
Cheers
