Title: More Modern Art -- Who's Dying In Iraq
Post by: Barry Hufker on November 08, 2010, 11:15:02 PM
This picture shows who's dying in Iraq.

This simple pixel diagram displays the human death toll of the Iraq war. Blue pixels are "friendly" deaths (U.S. and coalition forces), green ones are "host" deaths (Iraqi government), gray are "enemy" deaths (insurgents) and orange, well, those are civilians.

It would be interesting to have the pixel diagram plotted  using a variety of graphs

Well uhmm I am not sure what to say. War sucks for us. It sucks for them.. I am pretty sure we aren't planting IEDs..

I am pretty sure this started somewhere about 9 decades ago, after it started about 60 decades ago.. after it really began.. uncountable decades ago.

I don't like the war either. I wasn't sure at first.. I wasn't positive much later.

My first move would have been massive and quick. No.. MASSIVE and QUICK.

American media tend to only care about American deaths. The rest of the world cares about all deaths in a conflict. I was always amazed at US television when they talk about 4-5k casualties (the american ones). Not.

This was an un-necessary war (as most are) and is very tragic and sad.

And then there's us Canadians in Afganistan. The Afganis are the toughest fighters anywhere who have been at war for generations and here come along bunch of pasty white and fat suburban Canucks who are going to go and teach them a thing or two? I don't think so...
Whether the war in Afganistan is necessary or not is another question, but I don't really think either the Canadians or the Americans for that matter are capable of conducting a real war successfully. Yeah the Yanks can fly drones remotely and bomb people (a lot of civilians mostly) but actually doing a successful fight hand to hand on the ground with a real enemy they don't stand a chance and neither do us canucks.

That's one more reason why we should live in peace and clean up in front of our own house before we tell others what to do. At least that's the way I feel about it.

Looks to me more like a population cull than a war.

Beat me to it...

It would be interesting and no doubt disturbing to see the cultural breakdown of the civilian deaths in Iraq.

Some see a butterfly. Others might see ink spots. I think it's a great choice for our new national flag!

We won't need stars anymore, because no one is represented, and the stripes just remind U.S. where We came from!

If we can get that sucker to have 2 more colors. Red division lines to designate where the differences in people really are (race/color/creed/religion.. obviously!) and then a big blue spot in the middle. It's like an electorate reflector for monkeys who contemplate their navels.

Shitty art as social drama. I am better at arithmetics than subtle reckoning of subjective decoration.

Very Happy
