hello everybody, I am new here.

I have one question. I have an older A to D and D to A converter, a Flying Cow 20 bit one. Now I am using 24 bits to record. But I don't want to throw away the 20 bit converter.

My question is, if I have already recorded through another converter at 24 bits, can I use the 20 bit one just for a D to A playback, and as OK?

Is there a panelty for this? Does it truncate something funny?

I can't really see a problem, 20 bits is 120dB, which means you can give yourself permanent hearing damage with the biggest signals whilst the smallest are on the threshold of hearing.

If you can, set your DAW to dither at 20 bits.
