TLM47

I don’t expect an answer, but today I had a thought that seems interesting to share as an open question.

We all know of reasons why there is no U47.

But why is there no TLM47?

You ask a good question.  I'm guessing they figure they have the "47" sound covered with both the U47fet and the M147.

"But why is there no TLM47?"

In My Humble Experience:  Because the TLM 49 has the K47 Capsule?

To even remotely duplicate the sound of a U47 without the correct transformer seems specious. It's a bit easier to do a TLM simulation of an M49 and U67.

A k47 inside of a U47 shaped head could at least replicate that part of the impulse response.

A k47 inside of a U47 shaped head could at least replicate that part of the impulse response.
This was done a thousand times, with all the U47 clones out there.
Wagner, e.g. (among others) did very close copies.

Then there is the U47 FET, “same” capsule, similar head basket dimensions…

But I don’t think that’s the point of a 3/4 century old vintage mic.
An U47, carefully restored and tuned by a competent mic tech is just a different animal.
