There are two very nice articles on mastering in the latest SOS (volume 20 issue 12 October 2005) One is by Paul Abbot and the other by Tom Flint. Both are very well written and very informative to the musicians who read SOS. The one by Paul Abbot on the last page is especially well done and explains a lot of the philosophy of the mastering engineers job.
