Hmm, I didn't get a notification here either. Ah, computer stuff...

Harvey, if you don't get the mics from your client, get in touch with Larry, we'll work something out.
Wasn't a client, just one of the guys on a forum who offered to send me one of his two Hamburgs to try out.  Haven't heard from him.  I'd love to try both the Hamburg and the Vienna.  On another forum, I just recommended a Vienna to someone, even though I have never even heard one - and that always makes me a little nervous.

I'll call Larry today, but if it doesn't work out, I won't push it again.  My last conversation with him sounded pretty final.  And I didn't push him for freebies; I wanted to buy one or both.

Talked to Larry today and I think we've worked everything out.  He's gonna send me a Hamburg and Vienna to evaluate.

Harvey , did you already receive these microphones?  I'm curious about your opinions.

Yes, but we only have listened to them briefly so far.  First impressions:

I loved the sound of the Hamburgs - very warm and slightly dark; a sound I love.

The Viennas are brighter - way too bright for my voice, but I think they might be great for some female voices, and for acoustic guitars.

We have them of loan for a while longer and I'll be putting them thru their paces as opportunities permit.

I just bought a Vienna.  Haven't plugged it in yet but will return with opinions a bit later.

Harvey:  How do you think they will sound on trumpet?  Any chance of trying that?

From my experience you're gonna love em both. And like all ADK mics, these things take to pres really well, to the point of blossoming into extra high-end sounding gear.

I particularly like the Hamburg, but then I love that dark clear sound.

Harvey, you should try out the MP mic-pre. Very nice.(If you havent already)

Shocked Don't know, but Adam Kasper was quoted as saying that they are reminiscent of "...very expensive German mics...."  so, which would those be? Shocked

I dunno... I'm curious too now!!!

But hey, what matters is how it sounds on its own, and if it's appropriate for the application or not - basically, if it's useful to the user/owner.

Personally I don't like comparisons much.

For starters, there are very few "expensive german mics" that I really like. So it feels weird comparing a mic I designed (and like) to another mic that doesn't really rock my world.
