Mastering with McDSP's Channel G
« on: October 02, 2005, 07:25:07 PM »

I decided to try mastering with Pro Tools, as I've had good and bad experiences with both DSP Quattro, and Peak, but neither have plug ins which are only available in TDM.

As for the first plug in in the chain, I used the Waves C4 to get the track sounding tight. For a little more gentle compression, I added the Waves RenComp in Opto mode. For the third plug in, I used McDSP's Channel G plug in. I love that plug in on various tracks, such as vocals, bass, drums, but I never used it for mastering. It really gives the track extra body, especially using the SSL preset. Lastly, I use the L2 for maximizing, and POW-r plug in in 16 bit/Type 3 setting.

Undoubtedly, the Waves plug ins have been used for mastering, but has anyone tried the Channel G? What were your results?
