Motu 828 alternatives
« on: September 16, 2005, 01:59:11 PM »

Hi there,
I'll just come out and say it:  I've never liked MOTU, their customer service was quite terse with me on several occasions, and since then I've just preferred not to deal with them.

However, I'm looking to run ADAT into my Laptop, and they seem to be the only current manufacturer that will let me use ADAT lightpipe on their [usb or firefire]interface .  I'd prefer something with 8 analog outputs, and 24/96 capable over ADAT.

Can anyone suggest something?

Thanks,
       -Quentin Muhlert

edit: I'm running WinXP / Nuendo

Have you looked at the DIGI 002R? Not that their tech support has a sterling reputation.

Still, I think it meets your criteria, although you don't mention your operating system-- you'll need XP or OSX.

Maybe the RME Fireface? Looks nice to me. I have the 828mkII and it's been great to me.
